Hello;
I upgraded my graphics card to an EVGA Nvidia GeForce
GT220, in part to allow me to process more BOINC projects (I run SETI and Einstein). Now, I am getting
BSOD issues relating to nvlddmkm.sys. When I remove BOINC from my screensaver, I do not have the problems at all. When BOINC runs, after a few minutes I get a
BSOD and the nvlddmkm.sys message and the PC is locked up.
I am running Vista home premium, 32bit with an AMD 64x2 processor, and 3 gigs of ram.
I am running BOINC version 6.10.58, widget 2.8.10.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be helpful.

Both Seti and Einstein have CUDA tasks, which can run on your Nvidia GPU. One shouldn't run any screen saver next to CUDA tasks, as the GPU is quite busy calculating all the calculations in the CUDA tasks. It can only do one thing at a time, else you can get errors in tasks.

Now then, with that out of the way:
- Do you allow the GPU to be used by BOINC on those projects?
- What is the exact error message on the blue screen of death?
- Which drivers do you have installed?
- Are these from Windows, Nvidia or from EVGA?

One additional thing I found on Nvidia forums:

"If you have multiple 'GPU tools' like EVGA Precision and MSI Afterburner installed, consider that it is only advisable to have one tool such as this at any one time."

Do read the rest of that initial post as well. It was last updated January 3rd 2011.

Thank you for responding. I am using the drivers supplied on a CD from Nvidia. I am using the EVGA control panel, and I do not have the MSI afterburner installed - at least I do not remember it and it does not show up when I do a search for it.
I do not have all of the exact error message from BSOD - I would have to turn the BOINC screensaver back on and let it fail again, since it has stopped doing that since I stopped the BOINC screensaver.
I have BOINC set to RUN ALWAYS and USE GPU ALWAYS, but it was failing previously even when set to USE GOU NEVER.
Does this help any ? I could try and get the error message again if it is truly needed.

I do not have all of the exact error message from BSOD...

Aren't those listed in the windows event log?
