Hello all, I have BOINC installed in a laptop and a desktop. I want to control BOINC in the desktop remotely from the laptop. However, BOINC manager in the laptop fails to connect to my desktop. Here is a screenshot of what occurs, pay attention to the bottom right of BOINC manager. It stays like that indefinitely.

Here is the cc_config.xml file from my desktop,

<cc_config>
<options>
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

As stated in the cc_config.xml file, I have allowed remote GUI RPC from any remote host. The PC's are in the same network and is connected via a Linksys WAG120N modem router.

I will list the steps that I did to try to connect to the desktop from the laptop, from the menu bar of BOINC manager in my laptop, I clicked Advanced >>> Select computer... then I enter my desktop's host name, Lim-PC and I enter the number that I get from the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file from the desktop PC into the password field. I have read http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Controlling_BOINC_remotely but I may be missing something.

Any feedback and advice on how to get BOINC manager in the laptop to connect to BOINC in the desktop would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello all, I have managed to connect to the BOINC client in my desktop remotely from using the BOINC manager in my laptop. After double checking all the settings, I decided to restart the desktop and that did the trick!
