Hy,
I´ve a Dell Notebook with two GForce 8800M GTX Cards, but Boinc shows me only one CUDA Application.

I Know there is a way to run the System with two Cuda Apps, because I´ve did it once.

My OS is Vista 32bit
a Boinc 6.10.58 client
and my graficcard driver is Version 259.47

may anyone knows how to get the second cuda app running?!

By default, it's one application per CPU and GPU. Any second helpings are probably set through an anonymous platform information file (app_info.xml).

Since BOINC doesn't do any of the work, as that's what the project science applications are doing, you'll have to ask these questions at the project forums. Or at least tell people here which project(s) you run, and on which project you saw this behaviour.

Thanks for the help,
But I guess you got me wrong:
My problem has nothing to do with the projects.

Boinc shows only one cuda grafic card; but there are two cards at the Notebook
Both Cards are activated and run all well. They are not in SLI mode (so there should be two GPUs for Boinc).
Its like Boinc does not see the 2nd card anymore.

Imagine you run a system with a dualcore but Boinc says "theres only a singelcore"
But I´ve this problem with my grafic cards.

See my FAQ, more specifically the part "OK, so now I disabled SLI and BOINC only recognizes one video card. What is up with that then?"

Thanks for the Faq.

But I´m affraid to tell you that nothing from it helps -_-.

I worte a cc_config, and boinc read it. but nothing happens.

I can´t attach a second monitor to the second card because it´s a notebook;
It has only one connector for a second monitor, but its located at the first card.
So I can´t extend the desktop to both cards by using a second monitor.

Is there no other way to let Boinc know there are two Cards?

Then it's not really two cards, but a dual GPU. Two GPUs on one card.
You still need to use a second monitor or a dummy VGA plug for that, this one attached to the second VGA outlet on the card.

Attached a second Monitor, don´t work -_-

I used Boinc with both GPUs a while ago, and I never had to do something like write a cc_config ore attach a second Monitor or something.

A few month ago my notebook crashed. I got it repaired by Dell support and now I reinstalled the whole software etc.

I don´t know anymore which Driver versions oder Boinc version I used before but it worked without doing anything, and now Boinc just don´t see the second card.

Now, if it's really a second card... not just a second GPU on the same card... did you install the drivers for it? In Windows Vista and 7 you will have to install the drivers for each piece of hardware. So that means, that when you have 4 videocards in your system that you install the videocard drivers 4 times.

Does Windows (dxdiag for instance) see two cards?
What if you try a combination of... add a second monitor and extend the desktop to the second monitor? For some people they only have to add a second monitor or VGA dummy and it works, for others it's a whole hassle.

That you had it working before... well, all BOINC versions required that you either have the second monitor, the VGA dummy or the extending of desktop PLUS the <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> option.

So perhaps it's something in your cc_config.xml
What did you add into it? How did you save the file? (All files, ANSI encoding?)
Did you let BOINC read the config file or did you exit BOINC fully and restart it?

I´ve updated My Grafic Driver to the newest Version (266.58) and its installed for both Cards.
Windows the both and It says both are fine and work well.

I tryed alot things but nothing helps:
Add a second Monitor and extend Desktop,
Add a second Monitor without extend Desktop,

I write a cc_config with only the "use all gpu" part to try it,
complete shut down Boinc, copy cc_config, restart Boinc,
let Boinc read the file (just to get sure)
I got the message that Boinc use all gpus.
(But because of that Boinc itself don´t see the second Card, it does not help)

complete System reboot after every step to check out, but nothing.
the cc_config in combination with the second Monitor and with/without Desktop extend, reboots etc...

I guess everything from the FAQ failed at my Notebook -_-

Maybe It has something to do with the new Notebook drivers. because It worked all well with both cards before the crash.. but I can´t remember the driver version. And I never had to write a cc_config before or attach another Monitor/ use a VGA Dummy etc.
I realy think the reason that Boinc does not see the second card is videodriver related. (but the newer Cuda projects need the new driver, so just try old drivers won´t solve the problem but create a new one: have two gpus but no comatible WUs *sigh*)
