Does anyone know why Boinc does not detect all of the HDD space available on my computers.

On this machine , I have two physical 80GB HDD's but Boinc apparently cannot see the second physical HDD. I reports the space available as only 27.7GB whereas in fact there is over 100GB of space available.

This is particularly annoying at work where I have computers installed with small C: drives (<50GB) but the Data drives (D:) are, in some cases over 175GB

Why would BOINC be interested in the available space of any non-BOINC-related disk? The data can't be splitted.

If you want to use the disk with more available space on it, uninstall BOINC move the BOINC data directory and reinstall BOINC, pointing the installer to the new location (Advanced mode).
