I am running the latest Manager (5.10.30) and i would like to set my BOINC to only run after my computer has been idle for 5 minutes. I dont want it to run while i am working. I go to 'advanced' then 'preferences' and unchecked 'While computer is in use' on the 'processor usage' tab and set the 'Only after computer has been idle for' to 5.00.

This should work correct? It is not working for me. It is running all the time even when my computer is in use.

Please advise me what i am missing.

It is time for the website profiles to indicate, if not already:

A. The change takes effect upon first client to server contact with the project where the change was made.
B. The Local Preferences, if created, override the website profiles and should be cleared if return to website profile control is preferred.

You are saying that you think that my project preferences are overriding my local preferences? I am using BAM! and my BAM! preferences are also set to not do work while computer is in use.

The reverse. See what happens executing point B.

The global_prefs_override.xml is logically only controlled by the local prefs ignoring/overriding BAM inclusive i think. At least that's how it acts on my 1 device currently connected to BAM.

i have everything that i can think of set to not do work when computer is in use, but still no go. Hopefully i can get some help.

Make sure you have set your Activity options based on preferences.
if that doesn't do it, clear the local preferences and reset them. It might be something on your system that got broken. Just set the time out to 5, not 5.00, to avoid mistakes of what the period/comma does in your Windows environment.

I just tested here in my BOINC and the local preferences take immediately if I uncheck the option to work always.

Dagaroth, yes i meant that i want the science applications to stop not BOINC. You are correct.

ok i (edit) 'you' figured it out. Stupid little setting that ageless mentioned. I had, under 'activity' set to 'run always' and not 'run based on preferences'.
